Worthing named as a top '˜Cinderella town' for property buyers

Worthing has been named as one of the top '˜Cinderella towns' in the country.

Not because it is over-run with mice or because it gets rough at midnight, but because it has stepped out of Brighton’s shadow to become one of the most up-and-coming areas for property buyers, according to a leading estate agent.

Allison Thompson, managing director at Leaders estate agents, picked Worthing over High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire, Stroud in Gloucestershire and Huntington in Cambridgeshire but was pipped to the post by Southend-on-Sea in Essex.

She said: “Once considered to be second best to nearby Brighton, Worthing is fighting back and its property market is now one of the fastest-growing on the south coast.

“Thousands of people are moving from Brighton and London each year, attracted to the town’s vast beach, clean and modern surroundings and increasingly vibrant social scene.

“Most importantly, a classic Edwardian or Victorian semi-detached home can be snapped up for around £300,000.”
