Worthing nurse found guilty of sex assaults

A WORTHING nurse who sexually assaulted a patient in his care has been put on the Sex Offenders’ Register for five years.

Dhannajee Marottee, 36, of Ruskin Road, Broadwater, was arrested in July, 2013 following an allegation of sexual assault against a woman who was a patient at Worthing Hospital, where he was working in the A&E department.

On January 10, 2014, he was charged with a further sexual assault in September, 2010, at Ladymead Nursing Home, Hassocks, on a woman who was applying for a job there.

Marottee was found guilty of both counts by a jury at Brighton Crown Court on November 27, and sentenced on December 16. For the offence at Worthing hospital, he was sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment, suspended for 12 months, and 150 hours of unpaid work. For the offence at Hassocks he was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment, suspended for 12 months, to run concurrently. He was also placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for five years.

Det Con Ali Hutchings said Marottee had ‘abused his position of trust’ at Worthing Hospital.
