Worthing nurses hit out after parking fees rocket

NURSES at Worthing Hospital feel the council’s decision to increase the cost of a monthly permit at a carpark popular with hospital staff by 112 per cent is ‘absurd’.

Theatre nurses Julie Dearlove and Lorraine Ranson currently share a £50 a month parking permit for the Lyndhurst Road carpark opposite the hospital. As of April 1 they will no longer be allowed to share a permit and will have to fork out £106 each to park.

The increase follows the conclusion of NCP’s controversial ten year contract with Worthing Borough Council as the town centre’s primary carpark provider.

Julie spends only two-and-a-half days a week at Worthing Hospital and said she could not afford to continue parking in the Lyndhurst Road carpark.
