Worthing residents ‘fed-up’ with Morrisons noise disturbances

Stoke Abbott Court residents say they have been plagued by problems since the Morrisons M Local store opened in August.

And they claim complaints to Worthing Borough Council’s environmental health department, the store itself, and Morrisons head office, have failed to resolve the issue.

Nicola Lawrenson, 30, of Stoke Abbott Court, said her family have been driven to speed-up a planned house move because of the noise.

She said: “We are pretty fed-up with it, and it has spurred us on to find a new home.

“It all started with construction work, and the drilling sounded as though it was in the flat itself.

“And now we get deliveries at around six o’clock in the morning, which wakes the children up.”

Another resident, Gary Howard, said the noise was affecting his children, as they were constantly being disturbed.

He said: “I have spoken to the council’s environmental health department.

“On Sundays, we are woken up from anything between 5.30am and 7am.

“I work as a delivery driver, and I know we are always told not to deliver at certain times of the day.”

He added: “It’s ridiculous, and we just want it to stop.”
