Worthing runners chosen for Sussex

TALENTED runners from Thomas A'Becket Middle School in Tarring were chosen to represent the south of England.

A team of runners from the school, in Glebeside Avenue, joined forces with Worthing schools Chesswood Middle and West Park to take part in the annual cross-country competition, held at Christ's Hospital in Horsham.

The prize for the top 25 runners was a place in the Sussex schools team '“ with Leah Harris finishing 6th and Sam Murray 23rd.

Sam went on to represent Sussex schools in the south east cross-country championships and finished 64th out of more than 120 runners.

Unfortunately, Leah was unable to race due to an ankle injury caused by Sever's Disease, but she will be back soon.

James Garner, head of PE and community sport development, said: "All runners should be proud of their performances."
