Worthing school helps hospital home

WACKY wigs and dress-down days have helped raise hundreds of pounds for the Queen Alexandra Hospital Home in Worthing.

Children and staff at Lyndhurst Infant School, in Lyndhurst Road, Worthing, have come up with a number of fundraising ideas to support the charity.

Wendy Coombes, higher level teaching assistant, who organises the school’s charity events, said: “We have been raising money since September for Queen Alexandra Hospital Home.

“So far, we have collected £500 from Pyjama Day and Christmas production donations.”

A cheque for £500 was presented to Samantha Stokes, community and events fundraiser at the hospital home, during an assembly on Tuesday, when the school held a wacky hair day to boost the funds further.

Wendy added: “Wacky hair day has raised a further £273.88.

“We are also having an enterprise scheme, where each year group makes something to sell to the parents. Year two made and sold vegetable soup and made £63.87.

“The children are very excited by the charity and learning how their money goes to help people.”
