Five sheep and a lamb were chased across a privately owned field just north of Lyon’s Farm in Worthing.

Three received bites from, what their owner claims to be, a ‘medium size dog’.

The lamb was put down due to the severity of its injuries and the sheep received veterinary treatment.

Keith Walder, the owner of the flock, said in his 30 years as a shepherd he had seen six similar incidents, however, it was the first time his own sheep had been attacked.

Mr Walden, 52, of Eldon Road, Worthing, said: “It’s terrible; I can’t explain it. I know them all as individuals.”
