Worthing sub-post office reopens

NEARLY 15 months after it was controversially closed, the Lyndhurst Road post office has been officially reopened under new management.

East Worthing MP Tim Loughton was at the relaunch, on Monday, April 2, along with the Post Office's giant Daddy Ant mascot, to meet the two women now in charge.

Sandy Kawik has taken on the role of sub-postmaster and Yvonne Largue, her friend of six years, is the new branch manager.

Sandy said: "So far it's going really well and custom is beginning to pick up."

The branch was closed last January after the Post Office blamed "irreconcilable differences" with the then sub-postmaster, Worthing councillor Jack Saheid.

Residents launched a campaign against the decision and protested outside while waving placards.
