Worthing teenager's trek message

The 19-year-old police community support officer from Worthing took part in the 2008 challenge in April and raised 2,500 for the charity.

Along with his friend Alex Brown, who also raised 2,500 and is from Worthing, keen trekker Elliott decided to take part because he wanted to help women with the disease.

He said: "Taking part in this challenge was truly a once in a lifetime opportunity. It's not every day you get to walk along the Great Wall of China and I'd recommend it to anyone with a sense of adventure.

"But what made it all worthwhile was knowing I'd helped the campaign get a step closer to beating breast cancer."

Elliott raised money for the charity by having his legs waxed, and also collected money when he worked at the Tudor House restaurant in Ferring.

The pair were the youngest people on the trip, but Elliott said they got on with everybody and there was a good atmosphere.

He said: "It was really enjoyable and I would encourage anyone else to do it. I would like to do it again, but next time I would like to trek up Mount Kilamanjaro."

This year's challenge is taking place from April 4 to 12, and according to the campaign will take in "stunning scenery" as well as offering "fantastic views".

The deposit for the trek is 245 and participants are required to sign up by the end of January, 2009.
