Jasmin Simmons, 26, an estate agent, of The Causeway, Worthing, got a spot on the new dating show, Meet the Parents, hosted by Holly Willoughby, when she applied online last year but said she ‘did not think anyone would be interested’.

“The whole experience has been absolutely amazing,” Jasmin said.

She added: “I did not think my application would go far and next minute I am on the show.

“It is so nervewracking to know I will be on TV but at the same time it is so exciting as I got the opportunity to do she show.”

The bubbly estate agent was confirmed her place on the show in August and headed to the ITV studios in the summer with her family to meet the professional team, which she said was ‘incredible’.

“My parents were nervous but very excited for me and it was really nice to do the show as a family.”

The aim of the show is to land a date with a mystery man, who gets to ask their potential suitors’ parents ‘anything’.

While the parents are being quizzed, the guys and girls hoping to be chosen see and hear everything, and have no control over what their parents are revealing.

However, if mum and dad go too far, they can make just one urgent phone call to speak to them.

Once the picker has finished grilling the parents, they make their decision.

Though before they come face-to-face with their date, they get to meet the ones they turned down.

Speaking to ITV about the new series, Holly Willoughby said she ‘could not wait to hear what humiliating secrets will be revealed’ and ‘who will regret leaving their love life in the hands of their parents’.

She added: “We all know how embarrassing parents can be and nobody knows you better than they do.”

Jasmin said she has learned ‘not to care what anyone thinks’ after ‘such a fun experience’ which saw her make new friends and to ‘take any opportunity’.
