Anita Willsmer, 77, of Frobisher Way, Goring, was fined £25 earlier this year, on her birthday, for entering one digit of her registration number in the wrong order on her parking permit.

The incident happened outside her daughter’s house in Westbourne Avenue, Worthing, where street parking is restricted to permit holders between 10-11am and 2-3pm.

Anita said: “I won’t come here in the morning now, I have no confidence in using one of my tickets anymore.

“It was my fault but it seems very trivial.”

Anita had gone for a meal, in George Street, Hove, with her daughter only to be greeted by the ticket on their return.

She said: “Coming back I saw the ticket on the window screen and I was absolutely flabbergasted. I know I made a mistake but they don’t have a heart and they don’t give you a second chance.”
