THE seafront will turn pink on Sunday (July 15) as thousands of women walk, run and jog to raise money for charity.
The Cancer Research UK Race for Life 5k event will start with a warm-up in Steyne Gardens at 11am.
Jemma Molloy, Cancer Research UK’s south east events manager, said: “It’s going to another great Race for Life with about 3,300 women taking part. People can take the 5k at their own pace, and run, jog or walk the lovely route along the seafront.”
The pier marks the start of the race, which proceeds along the seafront to George V Avenue and back again, finishing at the pier.
Last year, 3,000 women took part in the Worthing race and raised £185,368 and it is hoped this year’s event will raise even more.
Because of the event’s location, road closures will be in place from 10am to 11.30. The stretch of seafront road will be closed between The Steyne and Steyne Gardens, and between The Steyne and York Road access will only be open to residents.
