Worthing's nude shows for over 21s only

UNDER-21s may be banned from nude shows planned by a Worthing club, if it gets a licence to run the events.

The Liquid Lounge, in Chatsworth Road, has applied to run erotic entertainment at its ground-floor Le Chic bar, including lap dancing and pole dancing.

James Lanz, general manager of the Liquid Lounge, told the Herald: "We are aiming at the 'Adonis cabaret-style' show for ladies and tasteful nude and semi-nude dancers for men.

"This has worked very well, trouble-free, in many other towns.

"This will, of course, be run very strictly for members only and for over-18s, or possibly over-21s."

The application is due to be heard by borough licensing councillors at Worthing Town Hall on March 27.

Sussex Police is having further discussions with the Liquid Lounge management before deciding whether or not to object.

Simon Jones, the council's licensing officer, said two objections had been received by Wednesday, February 20.

But they could not be included as "relevant", because one came from Goring and the other from Horsham.

Vote result

Last week, we asked: Do you think the liquid Lounge should be given a licence allowing it to become a lap dancing club featuring erotic dancers and nudity?

Most people were happy to see the club get the licence, with 69 per cent of the vote.

Only 31 per cent of people were against the idea.

What do you think?
