Work will start next month, and Mr Duckett is determined to put ‘smiles on faces’ with his plans for the venue.

He said; “It is an exciting situation to be in. I think it is important for Worthing that there is something on the pier for people to look forward to.

“I want people to walk through the door and say ‘wow’.”

The designs, which have planning permission, will take full advantage of the building’s 360-degree sea views.

The downstairs area will host weddings, cabaret nights, exhibitions and a café, with a separate café upstairs to be opened when events are taking place.

Locally-sourced oak flooring will be laid throughout.
