Yapton packed with fun and games for all

IT WAS all fun and games for 150 five to eleven-year-old’s across Sussex as the Big Top returned to Yapton village green.

The event had something for all generations, with pensioners from Warmere Court care home, in Downview Way, being treated to a musical show performed by children, to toddlers and parents enjoying a teddy bear picnic.

This year marked the 22nd holiday club to be organised and held by Yapton Free Church and St Mary’s Church with activities running from Monday to Friday.

Barry Pickthall, 65, who attended the week, said: “The event was a huge success, there was a real feel good factor right the way through from the children to the parents. It was fantastic to see people who came to the event as children 20 years ago coming back with their own children.”

The week was topped off with an awards ceremony on Friday for children who picked up the most points from games and quizzes during the week, The winners were; Oscar Sercombe, five, Tilly Jeffers, six, Toby Cooper, seven, Jonathan Chambers, eight, Frankie Rowden, nine, Mary Houghton, ten, Saffron Busk, 11.
