Young team raises hundreds of pounds for community project

A Prince's Trust team in Worthing raised money for a community challenge

The team of 15 young people walked from Worthing Pier to the Sea Lane Café and back – a distance of 6.4 miles – and helped shoppers pack up their groceries in Marks & Spencer. In total they raised £368.

The young people are all unemployed and are taking part in the Prince’s Trust team’s 12-week employability programme to help them gain the skills and confidence to find a job.

Prince’s Trust assistant Indi Plummer said: “They would like to thank the generous sponsorship from friends, family and the local community. The bag pack was also a fantastic day, with very generous donations from the public.”

She also thanked Marks & Spencer for hosting the team.

The money raised went towards a community project consisting of painting and clearance at the Sydney Walter centre and hosting activities for residents of Rosemary Mount care home, in Chesswood Road, Worthing,

Worthing’s mayor Vic Walker will present team members with certificates.
