Following the recent report on the closure of Lancing Horticultural Society and as the retiring chairman, I feel that it is only right to take the opportunity to thank the many people who have supported us for so many years.
After 22 years with the LHS, and the last 12 ‘in the chair’, it has only been possible because of the team behind me, not only the committee, but all the other member helpers who worked so hard to run the society and make it successful.
Also to all the exhibitors for their enthusiasm and constant participation over so many years which gave us three delightful shows each year and also to the public who came through the doors to enjoy them.
Thanks, too, for the Herald’s support and coverage, also the local radio stations who bring so many events to the public’s attention.
Last but not least ,I have to thank my officers, Ken Franks and Jack Rudland, who since the closure have worked so hard to clear and dispose of the society’s equipment.
Let us hope that someone in the future will take on the challenge and Lancing will once again have a thriving horticultural society after being in existence for almost 80 years.
