Beat bobby a rarity

CHRIS Servante posed the question in the Herald: “where are the police when any criminal activity happens in Lancing or Sompting?”

Well, the Herald is always publishing articles about forthcoming “the police meet the public” events, so I guess that’s where they are – in meetings. Either that, or writing and submitting reports about the meetings.

Incidentally, it was very noticeable that when police community support officers were first appointed, the centre of Lancing was awash with them, but now they are as rare as the almost extinct uniformed police officer on foot patrol.
