Changing times

HOW different today’s education is compared to mine! Having left school at the age of 14, I can’t believe that was 70 years ago! Or it will be at the end of March.

Every time the siren went, we had to leave our classrooms to go to the air raid shelters.

Not able to take a pencil and paper to do our lessons, everything had to be done mentally, in our heads – long division, which I worked out as I went along.

Trying to explain how I did it to the teacher was the difficult part.

I have tried to learn computer skills, my brain just will not digest it.
