Many older people (55+) will understand Robert Turner’s problem of finding employment in later life, especially securing work with recruitment agencies (Herlad letters, June 6).
However, he doesn’t appear to fully understand how recruitment agencies work.
Agencies require people to be flexible in a what work they will undertake to fill the mostly temporary vacancies they have on there books.
One week they would expect people to work in an safe, easy, clean office environment, the next they could require clients to do heavy manual work (labouring) on dangerous constrution site.
I’m sure at the age of 65, Mr Turner would struggle with the later. My advice to him is, don’t bother, find an interest (hobby) enjoy your pension credit and retirement.
