Familiar story

Joan Swain’s sad letter last week complaining about the poor state of Beach House Park is a very familiar one and she’s far from alone with her complaints.

The owner of the sandwich shop Feast told me he was sick and tired of looking at a miserable empty flowerbed outside his premises in Warwick Street so he took it upon himself to fill it with an array of lovely colourful plants and I watched him do it.

Shame about the hideous street furniture next to it though! Why was it ever put in such a prominent place?

We constantly read about the need to attract visitors and I hope our new mayor, Vic Walker, will focus his coming year on brightening up Worthing. Worthing is so scruffy and no one at Worthing Borough Council or Sharon Clarke, Worthing Town Centre manager, seems to understand the importance of aesthetics. To make money, you have to spend money.
