We attended the concert last Sunday by the Worthing Philharmonic Society and what a delightful meal we were given.
The appetiser was the superbly evocative Borodin The Steppes of Central Asia.
Our appetite now whetted, we were treated to the amazingly talented Laura van der Heijden the BBC Young Musician 2012 playing Saint-Saëns Cello Concerto No.1.
This lovely young lady was such a great pleasure to watch and hear.
How fortunate we were to see her now, as her reputation will grow so much over the coming years.
Well, if that had not been enough to satisfy us, the orchestra gave us a captivating performance of Tchaikovsky’s 5th Symphony. More than a meal, an absolute banquet.
An enormous thank-you to Steve Dummer and the whole orchestra for a truly memorable afternoon.
We do hope more people will want to take advantage of this fine group of musicians at their next concert on the March 15, when the piano soloist will be Poom Prommachart who won first prize in the Sussex International Piano competition 2013.
