Due to eye surgery my last visit to Worthing Central Library was before they were forced to make major changes to the layout.
Imagine my horror when I discovered the familiar book in, book out counters had disappeared and a strange machine needed to be used for borrowing and returning items.
I should not have worried. A friendly library assistant explained how the new system worked and helped me with my initial encounter with the machine. It really is very simple. Books, audio books and compact discs are swiftly recognised and issued. The machine even provides a receipt to remind you when the item is due back. It’s the same excellent service, but in a more modern guise.
In the reference library on the first floor there are still more treasures to be explored. And a friendly team of librarians to help you find what you are looking for.
Well done West Sussex County Council. We have a gem of a library in Worthing. Times may be difficult, but the warmth and expertise of the staff are as good as ever.
