Green gaps

I was interested to read of Tim Loughton’s concerns over Adur council’s plans to allow the building of 1,000 houses in Sompting and Lancing, recently reported in the Herald.

I agree with him that there is a real danger of increased flood risk.

He has been vociferously campaigning against plans to build houses on the flood plain. However, if he and his Conservative colleagues are really so concerned, perhaps they should communicate with their counterparts on the council, who came up with the actual Local Plan in the first place. The Conservatives need to make up their minds and agree whether they are for or against the plan.

I would invite everyone to join the local campaign led by Jemima Bland and the Liberal Democrats, to think again about the proposed development and allow us to keep the green gaps. These are vital to allow communities to breath. Also, it is necessary to do as much as possible to help with the problems of flooding in Lancing.
