I would like to thank your reporter Sian Gordon for her excellent article on the threat to Worthing’s community pubs.
I would like to ask for your readers’ help in the campaign to stop the disappearance of these pubs. 26 pubs disappear countrywide every week at the present time.
The local campaign for real ale Arun and Adur branch has three campaigns: the save the Dolphin petition, close the national planning loopholes and to list pubs as assets of community value.
Please write ,telephone or email me for a petition form to Save the Dolphin Public House. Please write to your ward councillors if you want to close the planning loopholes and stop pubs from being demolished or their use being changed without planning consent or community consultation. Please ask them to support CAMRA’s motion when put before the council.
If you feel your community pub could be helped by becoming an asset of community value and thus stopped being taken over by developers without consultation, then please contact me. I and the local branch are always willing to help on the above issues.
