Issue of gum

Pleased to see that the majority of residents and traders opted to retain the bandstand and are in favour of the lighter-coloured paving slabs (Montague revamp story, Herald, November 28).

But unless the council comes up with a more efficient method of removing the numerous splodges of discarded chewing-gum, it is not going to look particularly attractive.

Needs some thought even before they start work on the renovations.
