WHAT Diane Hardy has said about hospital volunteer uniforms is quite true, perfectly logical and common sense.
The tabards in current use are far more suitable for the needs of these volunteers. As I understand it, they are NOT white AND they have the required pockets for the necessary items they have to carry while on duty.
There is absolutely no need for change – “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it”.
It would appear to be change for change’s sake and for the sake of corporate image. It is common sense to spend any funds available on patient care and staffing, and budgets should be able to be adapted and changed to take this into consideration. It should not be wasted by the NHS.
All these volunteers are already saving the hospital money, by the time spent helping the nursing staff and patients, and should be applauded for their efforts.
