Just why have the gaps been closed?

Would the members of the borough’s county local committee be prepared to name themselves through the pages of this newspaper and explain why they decided, “on safety grounds”, to close the gaps in The Boulevard despite being advised that “there had been no injury accidents in the last three years” and “the closures would mean traffic being diverted on to the two roundabouts which already had a history of personal accident injury. Therefore the gap closures may increase the potential for conflict on the roundabouts”?

May we assume that they will accept personal responsibility for accidents caused by increased traffic flow at these roundabouts as they appear to have acted against the advice of their professional advisers?

I have no doubt that litigation lawyers are taking note.
