More meetings

Back in the merry days of yore (late 60s) when I started teaching, the staff began the school year with a meeting on the afternoon of the day before the official start of term and then all pupils came in at 9am.

By the time I retired, senior staff found it necessary to have two complete days of meetings using the day before the start and then an inset day followed by staggered starting on the next day.

I see that this year although the autumn term began officially on Tuesday, some schools were not up and running until the Thursday.

Perhaps if there were less admin and fewer administrators, schools might be able to get on more with the basics.
