WOULD like to thank the people of Worthing for generously supporting the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal last month.
This was another record year for Worthing, with a collection of over £41,500, which will go towards our continuing commitment to the welfare of our ex-service men and women.
I would also like to thank all those volunteers who helped in collecting and helping with the appeal, as well as the many businesses that gave invaluable support.
Whilst writing, I would like to mention the ceremony at the war memorial on Remembrance Sunday.
Over the years, this has grown to become a very significant part of Worthing’s heritage, for which I am very proud to be part of. Through all sorts of weather, the public and local organisations have not been deterred from attending in large numbers to show their respects.
I thank the Town Hall staff for their help to make this an occasion we can all be proud of.
