I write with regard to the comments by your correspondent, Duncan Barkes, on mobility scooters.
I have used one of these for many years, without incident.
The biggest bugbear for us are people with mobile phones glued to their ears, who walk along looking at the pavement instead of where they are going, or rushing out of shop doorways without checking if their way is clear. I hope happily take a test and would also make third-party insurance compulsory. This costs me just £59 a year and also covers for theft.
