For the benefit of public record, I vehemently oppose any residential or commercial development on the eastern side of Montague Place.
There is no likelihood of this land being developed.
True, the subsoil is owned by a prospective developer, but West Sussex County Council would need to relinquish the surface highway rights for any development to take place, which will not happen whilst
I retain any influence over
the matter. Further, any plans would have to come before the Worthing Borough Council planning committee for approval and such controversial developments rarely enjoy success with our sensible planners.
To put the matter to rest I have now spoken with senior Worthing council planning officers to request this outstanding application is called before the committee so that it may be definitively decided and I expect this to happen in due course.
