Pantomime disappointing? Oh, yes it is!

I fully agree with the Worthing Theatres general manager Amanda O’Reilly, that the quality of pantomime at the Pavilion has, at times, been disappointing.

At one of the pantomime performances I attended, it was obvious the Dame had never seen a pantomime before. Also the leading character’ s costume and make up was nothing like the bill post advertisings.

Why do they have to use expensive star personalities? Most kids have never heard of them.

I know full well that pantomimes are offered by agents as full packages. Also, the Rat Pack shows are packages. If you look on the web, you can audition to become a performer in one.

Whilst in Spain, I attended a Rat Pack show free, also Frank Carson for £5 entry.

Back in Worthing two weeks later at the Pavilion, Rat Pack followed by Frank Carson where tickets were £16.

Many years ago, the best and most affordable pantos were the local amateurs, Parent Teacher Association, which sell out at the Pavilion.

I feel a local society could do far better.
