Puzzled by letter

I AM puzzled by the letter from your correspondent (Jo Allison, Herald letters, May 24) about getting a parking fine for overstaying a three hour limit on a double yellow line.

For the very reason that no one can ever predict the length of a hospital procedure, the car park at the hospital has a “pay on exit” system in operation.

I cannot understand why anyone would choose to park elsewhere rather than in the designated car park, especially when undertaking a procedure where close proximity to the hospital, I would have thought, would be paramount.

Although parking charges have to be paid, they are comparable with prices in the town, and a fine is a far higher price than the original parking charge would have been!
