I was reading the Lancing Herald about Sompting Village Hall.
I was born in Sompting and have some memories of the reading room, as it was called then. Sompting School was bombed 1942-43 and the reading room was used as classrooms. When I was about 12 years old I used to go to the reading room which was used as a youth club.
Years afterwards, in 1954, on April 3, my wedding reception was held there.
My friend and I had a double wedding.
We married brothers and our first babies were born on the same day.
Now, reaching my 80th birthday, I still have fond memories of Sompting Village Hall, which will always be remembered as the reading room.
