Shortfall to be met?

I WAS pleased to read in your paper (November 24) that councillor Yallop has, at last, graciously conceded that when the previous Lib Dem council outsourced the car parks there was an estimated £4million bill for repair and maintenance.

This had built up over the preceding 20 or so years of largely Tory administration when such things had been ignored.

I do hope that councillor Yallop’s “more competitive pricing structure” takes account of how he will make up for the £1million per year the council currently pockets from the car park profits, which fills a large hole in the revenue budget. Or will the poor council tax payer have to make up the shortfall?
