Thank you, Worthing Philharmonic Orchestra, for a splendid Last Night of the Proms concert at the Assembly Hall on October 1.
In a varied programme, the large and enthusiastic audience were, in a first for the town, able to sing along with the excellent Cantatrice Ladies Choir, in a selection of hit songs from My Fair Lady.
Soprano soloist Zoe Peate and 18-year-old composer Richard Campkin, a WPO stalwart, added to the feel-good factor.
And there was a young lady of 11 among the cellists!
Worthing’s community orchestra, under the charismatic Steve Dummer, is encouraging audiences and performers of all ages to participate in the joy of music: long may they continue.
I’m so looking forward to their next concert, Winter Romances, on November 27.
