Traffic lights are in hand

In response to Tom Chilton (letters, November 8), the traffic lights in the A27 roadworks at the Sussex Pad have already been adjusted for the altered traffic flow, as the right filters have been turned off.

The lights cannot be kept permanently at green, as access is still required to Lancing College on the eastbound carriageway and the airport and Ricardo westbound.

Plenty of traffic turns off there, particularly during both rush hours – myself included – and if the lights were turned off, we should never be able to get back on to the A27.

As it is, the lights only change when there is traffic waiting to join the main road, so any delays are kept to a minimum.
