Instead of denigrating a council-owned venue, councillors would be better off being positive about it.
Rather than putting the public off, they should express positive opinions. They should also be looking for ways in which the venue could be improved and thereby attract more visitors.
I eat fairly regularly in The Denton Lounge and I organise the jazz suppers held there (on behalf of the council, though I am not a council employee).
I have been doing this for a number of years now and whilst there have been difficulties along the way, I would like to say that not only do I think that the food there has constantly improved over the years, I also think that it compares favourably with many of the restaurants throughout the town, whether you are talking about breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea or dinner.
I would certainly encourage the public to give it a try, if you have not already done so.
