How about treating your family to a meal out this coming Super Saturday weekend?

Doesn’t mum deserve a day off from kitchen duties after all the meals she’s lovingly prepared during lockdown?

With English eateries able to reopen their doors on July 4, when social distancing rules will be reduced to one metre-plus, the public will flock to fill their stomachs and set the hospitality industry’s tills ringing again.

Boost for economy

Research shows that the UK public’s wish to dine out, get back to the pub or have a trip away with the family could inject as much as £3.8bn into the economy within a week of lockdown measures easing.

In a survey of more than 2,000 people, a quarter said they missed socialising in restaurants and pubs. Some 24% of men and 13% of women said that their relationships had been under strain since the closure of restaurants and bars.

Nearly a third (30%) were keen to dine out within a week of restaurants opening.

More than a third (35%) pledged to dine out more and 43% plan on tipping more than they would have pre lockdown.

Some 3.6 million people have already started booking their Christmas party or meal out to help businesses with the cash flow they are in desperate need of at the moment.
