More than 120 people gathered at the club in Homelands Avenue to see Nick Greenwood, president of the Sussex Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), present the team captains with trophies for finishing top of the county’s first, second and fourth divisions.

Angmering-on-Sea chairman Philip Olver said: “We believe this is the first time three teams from one club in Sussex have all finished top of their divisions in the same season, so our players have made history.

“We are all so proud of what they have achieved, particularly the first team players who can rightly claim to be the best in the county. Three titles in one summer is a real sign of the strength we have in depth.”

Greenwood added: “Many congratulations to everyone at Angmering-on-Sea Tennis Club on such a fantastic achievement, especially given how strong and competitive club tennis in Sussex currently is. The bar has now been set very high for other clubs in the county.”

A total of 20 players, aged from 15 to 59, helped Angmering enjoy an unforgettable summer season.

The celebration event was also attended by John Barton, chairman of Sussex LTA, Mike Akers and Rod Danes, both vice-presidents of Sussex LTA and former presidents of Angmering.
