Annual bowls fun match raises money for charity

THE ladies of the women’s C&M Trophies League took on the Littlehampton Gazette League men in their annual friendly match on Friday.

The event took place at Beach House Park in Worthing, in aid of the Snowdrop charity, with Diane Levantine, of the Snowdrop Appeal, in attendance.

On a fun afternoon, there was lots of laughter on the greens and the game took place in the sun.

After 21 ends. the men emerged the winners by 33 shots, 264-231. The top rink prize for the ladies went to Chichester’s Maggie Maggs, Wendy Adams, Betty Spicer and April Janman, with the top rink for the men going to Norfolk’s Jim Young, David Jelley, Roger Parsons and Bill Whittaker.

Tony Wright, the sponsor of the C&M Trophies League, paid for the afternoon teas, which were provided by Homefield Park Bowling Club.

The afternoon concluded with a large raffle, with the prizes donated by clubs and the C&M committee, and £880 was raised for the Snowdrop Appeal.
