BASKETBALL: Thunder lose at Newcastle in play-offs

WORTHING Thunder's maiden venture in the BBL play-offs ended at the first hurdle on Friday (April 23) when they lost 102-74 at champions Newcastle Eagles.

Eagles started the game at a blistering pace and were 22-6 ahead early on, after a 16-2 run, and they led 28-12 at the end of the first quarter.

In the second period, Eagles continued to pull away from Thunder, thanks to some impressive outside shooting from Andrew Bridge and Joe Chapman, whose back-to-back three-pointers gave Eagles a 24-point advantage at half-time, 54-30.
