Bexhill scoop Sussex League award

BEXHILL United have scooped the Sussex County League Team of the Month award for the first time in their history.

The Polegrove club, playing its third season under its present name, collected the Sussex Division Three honour for January.

United won all three of their league games and came through a Hastings FA Intermediate Cup penalty shoot-out last month.

"It doesn't mean anything (in terms of points)," said manager Bill Trivett, "but it's nice to get the recognition."

United return to the Hastings FA Intermediate Cup on Saturday February 12 with a semi-final tie against East Sussex Premier Division side St Leonards Social. Adam Quinn (groin) should be available once again, but Andy Matthews (suspected broken toe) remains sidelined. Kick-off at Tilekiln is 1.30pm.

On the transfer front, forms are currently being processed for Sidley United's Billy Trickett, whilst Trivett intends to speak with Rye & Iden United winger Andy Garman, for whom he filed a seven-day approach recently, this week. Trivett confirmed that assistant Gerard Moyse has moved to an identical role at Rye & Iden.
