BIG CAREERS AHEAD FOR LITTLEHAMPTON PAIR?

LITTLEHAMPTON Cricket Club's promising 17-year-olds, bowler Luke Vinter and batsman Chris Kirkham, both have big futures in the game but just how far can they go? As well as playing for Littlehampton, both also play for the Sussex Development XI and Sussex Under-17s.

Vinter's future aims are clear-cut, he said: "I'm going to keep working hard this season and hopefully break into the Sussex 2nd XI and play a few games. My long-term aimis to get a contract at the county."

He has already played one game for Sussex's 2nd XI this year, against Hampshire in May. He took 1-57 from 15 overs as Hampshire scored 538-9, the wicket he took, though, was former England spinner Shaun Udal. Vinter said: "Hampshire had a lot of tough players and Kevin Latouf scored about 190 for them. He's a really good batsman, possibly the toughest person I've played against.

"Shaun Udal smashed me over the roof of the pavilion at Hove for six but I managed to get him out in the end."
