Child ready to get back into the ring

WORTHING-based boxer James Child cannot wait for his second pro fight, which takes place next month.

Middle-weight Child is determined to bounce back following defeat, on points, on his professional debut in November, after he had turned pro from amateur in April of last year.

He is due to face Louis Byrne at the K2 in Crawley on February 16 in four three-minute rounds and Child said: “My first fight was a learning curve and I’ve moved forward since then.

“I’ve been training every day and Paul Newman has been training me hard to make sure I’m ready and I’m really looking forward to it.

“There are a lot of people coming up to support me and I’m looking forward to getting things right this time.”

Tickets are available for the Fight Night at the K2, which starts at 7.30pm (doors at 6.30pm), ranging from £30 to £60.

Other boxers on the card include Ben Jones, who is fighting for the WBO European super featherweight title, Nicky Jenman, who is fighting for the International Masters and Lee Jenman.
