Jones, from Crawley, will take on an opponent to be confirmed at the K2 Leisure Centre in Crawley on Saturday, April 9. Jones, 33, has not competed at the K2 since he overcame Kris Hughes to become the WBO European super featherweight champion in February, 2013.

The show promoted by Jones’s management team at Brighton-based Assassin Boxing Promotions has been billed as ‘Making History’ with an eye on a successful title defence leading to a world title shot later this year.

Wicks, who has won all three of his professional fights, is scheduled to appear on the undercard along with Irish champion brothers JJ and Paddy McDonagh and a host of other talented professional boxers from across the south.

Jones’s manager and promoter Kaz Evans said: “I’m delighted to have got Ben defending his current title on his home soil and I’m sure his fans and followers will pack out the venue.”
