Brighton is a smart racing venue

BRIGHTON racecourse is offering an action-packed season this year, at the track where surf meets turf.

Although the notorious sea mist affected the recent meeting there, Brighton today is a smart racing venue which can be glorious when the sun is shining.

At the latest meeting, Express Wish started the fixture in style as the Jeremy Noseda trained colt, partnered by Frankie Dettori, cruised clear of the field to take the friday-ad.co.uk Maiden Stakes.

The performance of the heavily backed horse, which still holds an Irish 2,000 Guineas entry, helped to put a smile on punters'

It was also Dettori's first ride at the track since the 2005 season. The meeting was delayed by 25 minutes before the Weatherbys Bloodstock Insurance Handicap Stakes, which was taken by Hereford Boy under Robert Havlin.

There was a shock in the Hardings Bar and Catering Services Ltd. Selling Stakes with 40/1 shot Magroom driven out ahead of Windy Prospect and 5/2 favourite Marmoo.
