Albion friendly a ‘fantastic coup’ for Lancers

LANCING Football Club will host Brighton & Hove Albion’s development squad in a pre-season friendly later this month.

The game will take place on Saturday, July 28, with a 3pm kick-off, while Brighton’s first team are on their pre-season tour of Spain, and Lancing manager Martin Gander said: “It’s a fantastic coup for the club to get the friendly and, hopefully, we’ll get plenty of people along to watch the game.

“Brighton’s first team are on their tour of Spain on the day of the game but all of the younger players in the development squad are still full-time professionals.

“It’s a big game for the club and we’ve got Gully’s Girls coming over as well to make it a special day as Brighton don’t play many County League sides.

“The Sussex FA have been fantastic in getting us the match and it’s an ideal game for us the week before the league season starts as we’ll be coming up against quality players.”

Tickets for the game will cost £5 for adults and £3 for OAPs, with children under-16 free if accompanied by an adult. Anyone who wishes to book tickets in advance can contact Paul Blann on 07967 751281.

Parking will be restricted around the ground, so Lancing advise people to travel by public transport where possible.

Brighton will also be sending a team to Worthing for a pre-season friendly four days later. They head to Woodside Road on August 1, with a 7.45pm kick-off.
