Cricket academy open evening

The Aldridge Cricket Academy has an open evening for students on Thursday, January 10, from 6.30pm to 9.30pm.

The evening takes place at Brighton Aldridge Community Academy, and the cricket academy is a unique partnership between Brighton and Portslade Aldridge Community Academies and the Sussex Cricket Board, supported by Sussex County Cricket Club.

It provides intensive cricket coaching programmes delivered by ECB qualified specialist coaches. Working with the sixth forms at both academy schools, an integrated cricket and A-Level programme is being launched for talented male and female cricketers across Sussex, starting their sixth form studies in September, 2013.

The aim is to give students the chance to develop sporting talent and academic qualifications together. Training programmes will be individually tailored to suit students needs, using techniques endorsed by Sussex CCC. On the state-funded courses, students can choose from a full range of arts and science A-Level subjects to study, alongside an A-Level equivalent sports qualification, cricket coaching and competitive matches.

Courses are taught at both Portslade and Falmer campuses. For more information, visit www.aldridgefoundation.com/aldridge-cricket-academy
